Our Centre is set in 65 acres of beautiful grounds with sea views near the village of Bransgore in the New Forest, England. As a registered charity (UK Youth), we are fully committed to providing fun educational and activity holidays and breaks for everyone. Our specialism is working with young people, developing and promoting innovative and exciting learning opportunities, helping them to develop their full potential BUT we are open to vists from anyone, no matter what your age or ability!
We are used by schools, youth organisations, colleges, churches, voluntary & community groups, commercial & corporate groups, reunions, friends & family groups etc - basically any 'organised' group; you name it, they have probably stayed here....we had 20,000 visitors last year! You can visit for the day or stay residentially as we have accommodation to suit all budgets.

Our History
Avon Tyrrell is the National Training, Activity and Residential Centre of UK Youth, a charity that has been serving young people and developing innovative youth work programmes since 1911. Avon Tyrrell House and the surrounding estate were the former home of Lord Manners. The property was designed by the 'Arts and Crafts' architect W.R.Lethaby in 1891, and built from money the then Lord Manners won from training and riding the winner of the 1882 Grand National Horse race.
It is a calendar house with 365 windows (days per year), 52 rooms (weeks per year), 12 chimneys (months per year), 7 outer doors (days per week) and 4 wings (seasons). The house is now Grade 1 and the grounds are Grade 2 listed with English Heritage. The Manners family lived here until WW2 when the property was requistioned initially by the British army,
and latterly by the Americans who used it as an intelligence gathering station. After the war, the family gave over the property to the charity for the 'Youth of the Nation' to be used for holidays, courses, training and activities. We're still doing the same 60 years later and over a million people have now benefited from programmes and activities at Avon Tyrrell.
