Making a difference in young people’s lives
Adventures Away from Home aims to build young people’s socio-emotional skills, resilience, confidence, and positive relationships through nature and shared experiences and experience safe opportunities for growth, wellbeing, and physical activity.
This unique fully funded opportunity offers underrepresented young people aged 11–18 (or up to 25 for SEND) the chance to take part in an unforgettable outdoor learning experience, through a day visit or a one or two-night residential adventure.
The funding covers all participation costs at Avon Tyrrell.
One-Day: at least 4 hours of outdoor learning activity and a hot meal
One-night residential: at least 8 hours of outdoor learning activities and full board accommodation
Two-night residential: at least 12 hours of outdoor learning activities and full board accommodation

Please note leader accommodation and meals are funded at a ratio of 1:8, any additional adult places would need to be self-funded and you will also need to provide your own transport to the centre.

How to apply
Applications are on a rolling bases which will be reviewed every two weeks until all available funding has been allocated. Successful applications will be confirmed within 2 weeks of an application being received.
To apply please complete the below application form so we can understand a little about you and the group of young people you would like to participate in this programme.
Please note AAfH programme aims to engage young people facing significant barriers, including but not limited to: living in poverty, SEND, young carers, looked-after/care-experienced, girls and young women, ethnic minority backgrounds, English as an additional language, experience of the criminal justice system or secure estates, poor academic attainment/attendance and/or risk of exclusion. As part of the application form you will be asked to confirm that every attendee meets these criteria.
