Customer Experience Coordinator
Department:
Customer Experience Team
Who We are Looking For:
We are seeking a Customer Experience Coordinator to join our small friendly team in providing exceptional service to our diverse customer base and helping young people experience, learn and develop.
Key responsibilities include:
- proactively promoting and selling outdoor learning programmes and facilities carefully matched to customer requirements and learning objectives
- delivering excellent customer services to guests on-site, facilitating a high-quality customer experience.
Candidates should enjoy working in a young person-centred setting and be able to demonstrate the following personal qualities:
- Previous experience in a similar administrative role
- Strong ICT skills including experience of database entry
- Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of organisations and individuals
- A good understanding of the value and positive impacts of outdoor learning or a willingness to learn
- Experience of a specialist booking system or a willingness to learn
- An ability to demonstrate strong prioritisation and organisation skills, manage changing priorities and a proven experience of meeting deadlines

Lead Instructor

Outdoor Learning Delivery
Who We are Looking For:
We are looking to recruit a Lead Instructor to join our small friendly Outdoor Learning Delivery team. Candidates should enjoy working in a young person-centred setting and have experience delivering outdoor learning sessions to a range of ages and abilities.
As a lead outdoor learning instructor, you will be a key part of our delivery team. Key responsibilities include:
- Helping to lead our delivery team by supervising department resources and activity areas
- Line managing, mentoring, and developing junior staff
- Delivering our portfolio of activities and
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the department, diligently meeting Health & Safety legislation and departmental SOP’s.
We are looking for individuals who have previous experience of working in an outdoor centre for a minimum of 24 months and experience of delivering outdoor learning sessions to a range of ages and abilities.

Seasonal Instructor

Who We are Looking For:
We are looking for individuals who have experience of delivering outdoor learning sessions to a range of ages and abilities, who hold a valid first aid certificate and at least one of the below qualifications:
- BC Coach Award or minimum BC Paddle Sport Instructor
- RCI Assessed or a nationally recognised Climbing qualification
- ERCA Traditional Instructor & ERCA Rescuer
- A nationally recognised Mountain Biking qualification
- Archery GB instructor

Outdoor Learning Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship
Who We are Looking For:
Someone looking for a rewarding role where each day you will help young people build skills for life and create lasting memories, or, simply love outdoor activities and want to share your passion and inspire others?
During an apprenticeship at Avon Tyrrell outdoor centre, you will learn how to instruct a wide range of outdoor activities from climbing and canoeing, to bushcraft and environmental education, and gain experience of working with a wide range of groups and individuals.
Experience and Qualifications
No previous experience is required but candidates should:
- enjoy working with young people
- be able to communicate effectively
- be willing to learn
- be prepared to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and be outside in all weathers
- have a minimum of grade C/4 (or equivalent) in GCSE English and maths; or be willing to complete relevant functional skills tests.
- be over 18 by 1 December 2024
- have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake a full enhanced DBS check

Do an apprenticeship with us
An Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Learning Apprenticeship is a 2-year programme, and is a great way to start a career in the outdoor industry.
The paid programme is suitable for people aged 18+ and has the option for participants to live on-site. Throughout the two-years, you will gain skills, qualifications, and the confidence to run a variety of outdoor activities.

Volunteer with us in the New Forest
We have lots of opportunities at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre, we welcome individuals for a few hours, corporate groups for a day or regular committed hours.
We need help with everything from clearing paths, replacing fences and even helping us to put up a new shelter. We’ve got a never-ending list of jobs!
