What does an Outdoor Learning Instructor do?
An instructor’s main role is to deliver safe outdoor learning sessions with a focus on helping individuals to experience, learn and develop. However, to enable this to happen there are many other related duties such as safety checking equipment, preparing resources, and maintaining activity bases.
The role of an instructor is varied and brings new challenges every day.
You will need to be:
- Be aged 18+ on entry
- Have a friendly, enthusiastic personality and a can-do attitude
- Enjoy working with people of all ages
- Be happy to work outside in all weathers
- Be prepared to work weekends and evenings and have the resilience
To complete your apprenticeship you will also need English and Maths at Level 2. This is not an entry pre-requisite, but those without this will need to complete this during your apprenticeship.
“An Outdoor Learning apprenticeship is quite life-changing – it provides the perfect environment to completely throw yourself into every aspect of instructing while being supported by highly knowledgeable staff who are constantly inspiring and pushing you to be the best instructor you can be”
– Grace, Previous Apprentice
